Description

Lewisia cotyledon 'Alba-White' (Bitterroot) joins our Lewisia collection with snow-white elegant flowers that arrive in spring and may flower into summer. The stunning beauty of Lewisia can be enjoyed in containers, xeric areas, and rock gardens. Happy in a fast-draining gravelly site or low-fertility soil, in a full sun to part sun location. It likes dry soils with intermittent moisture, especially when flowering. A long-lived perennial with evergreen foliage, Lewisia is a pollinator magnet, attracting birds, bees, and butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant. Native to the rocky slopes of western North America it was named after Meriwether Lewis, leader of the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1806. Cold hardy and drought tolerant. ‘Alba-White’ is lovely planted with other Lewisia, ‘Sunset Strain’, ‘Little Raspberry’, and ‘Little Plum’. Compact Penstemon, Sedum, and Aubrieta are nice companions as well.
