Description

Lace Aloe (also known as Torch Plant, Bristle Tip Aloe or Guinea-Fowl Aloe) is a mountain species from southern Africa that forms clumps of attractive, soft-spined succulent rosettes. It blooms with showy 15" tall torch-shaped spikes of coral-orange flowers in mid-summer. Hummingbirds love them. This is a cold hardy collection found growing in cliffs at an elevation of nearly 9,000 ft. Best planted in the rock garden in a vertical crevice to help the rosettes shed winter moisture. Or grow it in an ornamental pot and bring it into a cold frame or unheated space during the coldest part of winter. Originally collected by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery. Good for Firescaping
