Very pretty and a dainty color

"Can't believe how easy they are to grow to good-looking plants."

Worth the wait!

"This bearded iris was sloooow to bloom; my theory is that the extra breeding to make their special color and all of those fancy ruffles also makes them a bit more delicate than most. I planted August 2016. We had horrible drought for the next two years and they only survived, they didn't bloom. Finally, in 2019, in almost their three year mark, they are blooming! They are a bit shorter than some of my other iris, which makes for a nice change. My advice is to plant along with other iris (I have them with ""Mango Entree""). That way you will have some other blooms to look at while these slowly rev up their engines. In my experience they are not quite as blue as shown in the listing photo, I think of them as more of a pale lavender purple. The photo in my review is more what my eyes see."

purple not blue

"Is there a reason that my merchant marine blooms purple? Does it have to do with soil?"

Lots of leaves, no flowers

"These iris were a let-down. I have yet to see a flower and that is the purpose of an iris. They were late to start growing, and they are now dying back for the summer. I am a bit disappointed. However, my other established iris had a bad year as well, so I do not fault the plants. We had 102 degrees on May 2nd, so these were caught in an early heat wave. The bed is mulched because of our intense sunshine, heat and dryness in the low desert. The plants look like all the other iris now, so maybe next year?"
