Description
Iris germanica ‘For Veronica’ (Bearded Iris) offers a rare deep-violet self-style bloom. Easy to grow, plant them in a sunny spot with good drainage, in groups of three or more for best interest. Keep the top of the rhizomes exposed or even with the top of the soil. Once established, Bearded Irises are drought-tolerant, deer resistant, and rabbit resistant, and will spread and multiply when happy. Once flowers have faded, this versatile plant’s eye-catching vertical foliage will continue to enhance the perennial garden. Plant with ornamental grasses and other water-thrifty, late spring bloomers such as Allium and Oriental Poppies. Lavender, Gaillardia, Echinacea, and Salvia will benefit from the striking foliage as a backdrop. ‘For Veronica’ Bearded Iris received an American Iris Society Honorable Mention in 2017.

I think I will love them, but waiting for flowers
"So I planted 6 of each of the irises (Blueberry Bliss, Black Lipstick, and For Veronica) and all came up with the green foliage, however none of them flowered this year. I do see bulbets on the sides of the bulbs, so I do think that they are healthy and thriving. I can't wait to see the flowers next year (fingers crossed). A couple have been either diseased as bulbs or eaten by some sort of pest so that is why they're listed in the cons. The pros I do believe will outweigh the one con."
