new to southwest gardening. Rely heavily on High country gardens for most of my plant choices. My graveled landscape is being transformed by using their expert descriptions and plant choices. Their great warranty program lets me buy without fear that all my work and money won't end up in compost pile.
not sure what happened

This plant was growing well and then suddenly this summer it began dying. We have hot, dry summers, but it was in a spot that had a bit more moisture and shade during the hottest part of the day. I'm not sure what happened.

Sun makes a huge difference
By No, thank you

Very attractive plant that bloomed profusely from mid-summer to frost. Unfortunately, it's also very attractive to local rabbits once the weather turns cold, and they have eaten it down to the ground. I don't expect it to re-emerge in the spring, though I could be surprised. I planted one of these in another part of the yard that's in part-shade, and it struggled to survive. Sparse blooms and leggy development were in stark contrast to the other examples I planted in full sun. which truly thrived throughout the summer. While I like the plant very much, it appears that rabbits will regularly consume it in the fall, and if it can't bounce back from that, I won't reorder or replant it.

I planted two of these, they were slow growing and finally bloomed late in the season. I hope they will do better next Spring.

I like all the blue mist plants. This one is compact, which has it's uses, as it can be tucked in wherever it's needed without taking over the entire area. I have found all the caryopteris plants beautiful and sturdy, and hard to kill. I hope to never be without one in my yard.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
