Description

Yucca pallida (Pale Leaf Yucca) is a low-maintenance garden specimen that prefers a full sun location but will also tolerate part shade (though it may not bloom). Plant it in sandy, average to low-fertility soil with good drainage. It will grow best with a gravel mulch. Combine with other waterwise perennials such as Penstemon, Ornamental grasses, Lewisia, and Aubrieta. A native to north-central Texas, it is hardy in zones 6-10, tolerating low temperatures of at least -10°F. It may also be grown in containers where its eye-catching form can be brought up close. After flowering, cut the stem back at the base if you like to maintain a tidy look. Yuccas are tough plants that don’t need pampering. Planted in the right place they are worry-free members of your garden.
