The highlights of the Aztec lily are its spectacular bold red petals and bright green strap-like foliage. Not true lilies, Aztec Lilies (Sprekelia formosissima) belong to the Amaryllis family. Native to Mexico, they love heat. Spring blooming and may re-bloom. Makes a lovely container plant. Cold hardy in zones 8-10. 6-12" tall.

"My sister was delighted to receive this."

Wow, impressive

"Planted bulbs in container, because I had read that they often don't bloom their first year, and I wanted to be able to bring them inside in winter. A week of 65F days (50F nights) and one stem shot up and formed a huge beautiful flower. The next day the 2nd bulb had a 6"" stem and bud, the 3rd was showing a new sprout, and the first had a 2nd flower stem starting up. Had to bring them inside (photo) for a few days of mid-June snow, but I'm looking forward to impressing the neighbors with these beautiful flowers."
