Planted late for season.
About Me Avid Gardener
Never grew much. Will see if it comes back next year.
Merchant response: We appreciate your feedback about the Aquilegia chrysantha v. chaplinei Little Treasure. We do ship young, immature plants which would be expected to reach maturity in the 2nd or 3rd year. Generally, with any perennial plants you would expect to see some healthy green growth the first year with blooms beginning the 2nd and successive years. I suspect that you will see this plant return this spring and produce more healthy growth. If not, please contact us and we will be happy to go over some resolutions options with you. Thank you for your patience. Happy Gardening!

About Me Getting Started
I planted this with other columbine and the vibrant color just wowed everyone. It has become my favorite. I planted it under a Mexican plum where it gets plenty of sun in the winter but is protected from the blistering Texas heat in the summer. It is thriving.

About Me Professional Landscaper
I tried this in a hell strip in west Denver. The soil is Denver clay, unamended, but well watered with spray irrigation 3 times a week. I bought this selection because I wanted a shorter Aquelegia chrysantha. The plant ended up about two feet tall (I think it would be shorter with less water) and bloomed like mad, the best chrysantha I've ever seen. I meant to get by this garden to deadhead this columbine plant, but ran out of time. When I came by a few weeks later I was surprised to find the plant in full bloom for a second time. Maybe I lucked out with my particular plant if this was seed grown, but Wow! Very impressed.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
