Why Plant Yucca?
Hailing from harsh Southwestern deserts, Yuccas provide a sense of place and a striking architecture to the landscape. Lending year-round beaty and structure to xeriscapes and waterwise gardens, Yuccas feature distinctive sword-shaped foliage arranged in rosettes. The spiky, sometimes sharp foliage lends to deer and rabbit resistance. Most will bloom in spring or mid-to-late summer, with large flowering stalks that emerge from the center of the plant. Yuccas are extremely durable and drought tolerant, best suited for arid climates and very well-drained soil. They grow slowly but are long-lived; once firmly established in your landscape, they need almost no maintenance.
