How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Our Xeriscape Clover Lawn Seed Mix is a sustainable lawn solution that includes our Low Work & Water Grass Dwarf Fescue Seed, Dutch White Clover seeds, and white-flowering Achillea (Yarrow) seeds. This mix will improve your soil, attract pollinators, and create a soft green space in your yard. Dutch White Clover (Trifolium repens) is one of the most popular perennial clovers used in lawns, favored for its durability as an erosion-preventing groundcover, and for its ability to fix nitrogen to improve soil health. Achillea (Yarrow) is a vigorous and resilient plant that tolerates gravelly or lean soils, and it is very drought resistant – it can thrive where lawns typically struggle, and its lacy foliage creates a soft green groundcover. When left to bloom, the elegant white clover and Achillea flowers will create a carpet that dances gently in the breeze, providing a great nectar source for pollinators. Mow occasionally for a more manicured look, or retire your lawn mower to skip mowing entirely.
Clover seed is nitro-coated with 34% limestone and inoculated product.
This mix is suited for a wide range of the United States and is best for all but the hottest extremes. This cool season lawn mix is best sown in March through early May, or late August through September.

"Planted one month ago mid-September in Southern Indiana. So far, very please with germination and initial growth. Love the natural look of this alternative lawn!"
"Wanted so badly for this to work. Two applications over the course of two months following the instructions closely. Watered accoridng to directions. Each application yielded less than 10% germination. Other High Country Gardens seeds have worked well for me, but this was a bust. Large areas of the yard are still bare soil months later."
"I really like this lawn mix. I live in Denver and am in the second year of this lawn. It started growing in very thick in the spring without any water from me. I have not mowed this year or last. A few comments. The components grow in differently. The parts of my yard that get the most sun are filled with clover. The rest is more grass and yarrow. All of the components are also quite a bit taller than I anticipated, but I like the wild look. Finally, some of the yarrow is full size, meaning they are several feet tall. Most of the yarrow is miniature, and I do really like the look of it in the lawn. The lawn gets light traffic and seems to do fine with that. Overall, this is a beautiful lush lawn with low water needs and low maintenance needs and I would buy it again."
"I'm a couple weeks in and what's come up is great. Typically you'll only get clover with this kind of stuff but the ferns were a welcome surprise. Then again the ferns may have come from another mix of seeds I planted. Not sure tbh I kinda went overboard and just seeded everything all at once. I dunno. I've been watering everyday and doing my best to keep the chickens out. I'd buy it again, but I'd buy twice as much if it wasn't so expensive. Not particularly sure why grass seeds cost so much but then again I'm not a grass seedoligist"
"I have seeded twice with this mix and not gotten much more than clover. I'm glad to see it, but it's cost quite a bit and I'm not seeing any yarrow at this point."
"Introduced this mix into our clover and grass lawn. I look forward to the increased drought resistance and biodiversity of our lawn."
"We purchased the xeric clover lawn seed mix for a backyard that was a ""clean slate"", aka dirt, in Grand Junction CO. Although I admit that we applied like 4 times the recommended amount because our seed spreader was set too high, we are really happy with the results. It took 5 days for seeds to sprout at the end of April and we had a full, thick lawn in June. (Some would call it a meadow because we left it grow very long. ) We've been gently using a weed eater to reduce the height and we have continued watering every morning because temps here were over 100 for much of the summer."
"I bought Xeriscape Clover Lawn Seed Mix and two other clover seeds. After amending my depleted soil, it has filled in and is lush, soft, and healthy. #sweepstakes"
"I received the seeds for the Xeriscape clover mix in the middle of a big snowstorm. I waited until it had melted and the ground had thawed enough to prepare the top layer of soil. I spread the seeds and covered with straw. In a few days there was another snow storm. When that melted, a large flock of small ground-feeding birds arrived and found there was a treasure trove of seeds. The stayed for about a week. Now the area is again covered with snow - that is springtime in the Rockies for you! I will wait a while to see what happens when the warmth is here to stay. II hope there will be some green shoots! Otherwise, I will be contacting HCG for pointers on how to prevent the birds from eating all the seed."
"Super easy to spread and is growing in nicely"
