A carefree little succulent native plant, Phemeranthus calycinum 'Judith's Favorite' (Fame Flower) has quarter-sized rose-violet flowers that open in the afternoon heat. A willing re-seeder, these little plants gently colonize their garden site and bloom all summer. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).

Tough little plant!

"What a great plant thus far. Wouldn’t say it was the most beautiful specimen when it arrived- one main plant with several broken pieces. I evaluated the broken pieces and saw just a little green actively growing tips. A closer inspection and I saw advantageous roots barely sprouting out of the broken segments, so I decided what the heck I’ll plant them all and hope for the best. When I tell you, what a tough little plant! Truly within a day or two, the main plant AND little pieces were already established, and I noticed growth of the tiny lives after a day. They are all alive and well, and growing very vigorously for only being planted a couple weeks. 10/10 would recommend!"

Fuschia Heaven!

"I live in southern California where the summers are hot and dry. This plant will thrive in my climate no matter where I put it in the garden. I often have to create micro-climates in order to sustain the flowering plants I love to grow. . . but this little guy will do just fine in the sun and the bees will love it. It is versatile and unique. I was happy to find it. I would recommend it for anyone gardening in a hot dry climate."

I am in love with this plant!

"this little beauty out does itself!! It blooms its head off every evening when everything else looks hot and dried. The flower is so bright and cheerful and I Love how it waves in the breeze. I will be buying and planting more of these every where I can."

I buy this product again and again

"This simple little flower doesn't bloom until evening, which is a shame, but it is worth the wait each day. I buy a few more of them every year so they cover more ground. I am a midwestern transplant to the Sonoran Desert who misses meadows. Thanks to David Salmon I've created a desert meadow with native plants he developed. David Salman was my hero; right up there with Piet Oudolf. I find most of my plants at High County Gardens."

What a pleasant surprise!

"I bought 5 of these on a whim last autumn. I'd forgotten I'd bought them. Then early this spring a package came with these plants in it. I'd already plainted up my garden for the season, so I put these in a makeshift container. Just wow! They are flourishing and have tiny delicate blooms. I really am happy I took a chance on these."

Lovely

"I put it in a windows box. It Bloomed all summer in a very tricky location (hot dry partial shade), with occasional watering. Loved the long slender stalks that ended in delicate hot pink flowers. It's gone down for the fall now so I'm excited to see how it does next year!"

Got a dry trouble spot in full sun?

"Buy this plant. Honestly. This summer has been hot and we are down about half the precipitation we generally get (less than 6 inches from June 1st through Aug 31st) and this plant has been a blooming machine. The color is bright and stands out well above the succulent-looking foliage. I will admit I am concerned about its ability to overwinter in my wetter climate (SE Mich), but the zone hardiness looks like that won't be the issue. My plans are to take cuttings as well as covering the original plants with a cone over the winter. If it doesn't make it, and my cuttings are unsuccessful (which will be unlikely as I've already rooted a few) I'm sure it will be in my cart once again next spring. . ."

So pretty!

"We just had our first flower bloom and it is beautiful! The plant arrived healthy and has been growing in a very hot, dry sight all summer without signs of stress. We are excited to hopefully spawn a little meadow of them as it reseeds."
