Echinops bannaticus 'Star Frost' (Globe Thistle) is an eye-popping beauty in frosty white with spherical flowers on sturdy stems. Rising from thistle-like deep green leaves with silvery undersides, ‘Star Frost’ will bloom from mid-summer to early fall. Plant them in a sweep for dramatic effect. At 3-4 feet tall they are just right for a perennial bed, cutting garden, or pollinator garden - bees and butterflies love them too.

Very professional delivery

"This plant arrived, healthy, and well packaged"

Gene T. (5/5)

Really exotic looking

"These flowers are really beautiful and otherworldly looking. I wasn't sure I would like them but they were a lovely surprise."

Cpb (5/5)

Hopefully next year is better!

"All of my Star frost was susceptible to rust. I've never had that problem before. I took off all the infected leaves and made sure water didn't sit on the plants. A few months later and they're mostly regaining foliage. I didn't get any blooms this 1st summer but they are alive so hopefully next year!"

Stephanie (3/5)

Vigorous grower!

"This thistle grew fast and produced 3 healthy, vigorous blooms. It seems hardy and unaffected by disease. The soil here is clay and poor quality, but it does not seem to mind and is doing very well."

SK (5/5)

Great plant and deer resistant!

"These plants are settling in nicely from being planted. I don't expect blooms for another year or two, but plant is hardy"

Karen (5/5)

Hardy

"Planted in pot"

OKgrammi (5/5)

Robust!

"With optimal conditions, these get very large! Great interesting addition to a tall border."

Bee (5/5)

Unexpected beauty!

"As soon as they were delivered, I couldn't believe the beauty of the Star Frost Echinops leaves! Pictures just don't do this little lovely justice - the coloration is exquisite! They've been in the garden since the fall and are coming in nicely and much earlier in the spring than expected. I'm delighted I gave this undercover show stopper a front row seat in our garden!"
