Happy Cosmos

"I planted Cosmo seeds, with my young daughter, around our yard. We have had so much fun and joy watching them grow and enjoy the pink flowers. They love the sun and don't need much attention. #sweepstakes"

Exciting - last at least a week as cut flowers!

"Scatter the seeds to fill areas. They bloom in late summer through fall and require seemingly no care. They get only incidental rain in the summer. Beautiful blooms! Zone six"

Good germination/foliage growth, but few flowers (b/c soil?)

"I added these cosmos seeds to a wildflower seed mix that I direct sowed during the third week of May (zone 5B). A couple weeks later I added more of these seed around the border of the wildflower meadow. In areas of the meadow were soils are nutrient poor and drier, germination was lower and plants were stunted (< 1. 5'), but this was expected and true for all species seeded in this area. Unsurprising, germination was high and foliage growth is vigorous (2. 5-5' tall) in areas with amended soils (added organic matter, some areas also had compost additions); given their growth rate these plants got leggy. However, it's mid September (3. 5+ months post sowing) and only ~10% of plants have flowered/budded; this is true across all areas of the meadow. We've had a relative wet summer (our un-watered lawn has stayed green all summer!) so I'm guessing these results reflect soil conditions and/or later sowing time. I thought cosmos would be an easy unfussy addition to our new meadow so I'm a bit disappointed."

Yes

"Grew as hoped!"

They actually grew!!!!

"I started some of this in individual seed starter trays and some of these I sprinkled on a fresh layer or soil in a bed (covered with Saran Wrap for awhile). Both sets grew, but I would say the ones scattered in the bed were hardier. Next time I will thin my plants, but it made me too sad the first time around."

Love these flowers. Tall and beautiful colors.

"Easy to grow and maintain. I don't know of any insect that bothers these flowers which is important in Oklahoma. Beautiful foliage and flowers."

I'm going to buy again!

"I received so many compliments on my flower beds in the front of the house"

Hardy Zone 1-10?????

"I haven't grown your Cosmos, but have grown the plant from other sources. Annuals don't have hardiness zones!!! Because they are NOT HARDY. Better fix your llisting"
