Description

30" tall x 24-30" wide . Solidago sp. Wichita Mountains is a great new native introduction found in the rugged Wichita Mountains of southwestern OK by nurseryman Steve Bieberich of Sunshine Nursery. True to its origins, Golden Torch Goldenrod is extremely heat-tolerant and is a much more xeric species than the other Solidago. Of course, the butterflies flock to it in great numbers. Plant with other prairie species like Salvia pitcheri 'Grandiflora' and 'The Blues' Little Bluestem grass (Schizachyrium). (seed propagated) Contrary to popular belief, Solidago doesn't cause allergies; its pollen is sticky, not windblown, and is moved from plant to plant by bees.
