Description

Nerine Lilies, also known as Guernsey Lilies, are easy to grow. These exotic looking, red-blooming flowers, sometimes known as Red Spider Lilies, are held aloft on tall stems with minimal foliage support. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Plant as soon as possible, as this plant requires a long growing season before flowers emerge in late summer to early fall. Hardy in zones 8-10; plant as an annual in colder zones. May be started indoors in early spring and transplanted outdoors once threat of frost has passed. A South African native bulb, Red Nerine Lilies bloom in late summer with large clusters of red, lily-like flowers. Plant in full sun and water regularly, but don’t over water. In zones 3-7, lift bulbs before frost and store in a cool dry place for planting the following spring.
