Fendler's Hedgehog Cactus (Echinocereus)
Description
3-4" tall x 4-5" wide. This form of Fendler's Hedgehog Cactus (Echinocereus fendleri Catron Co., NM form) is a dwarf grower with huge magenta flowers in late spring. Seed for our plants was originally collected in Catron Co., NM, a very cold, dry, high-elevation part of the state where extra cold hardiness and durability are essential for survival. This is a clustering form--slowly forming a clump of squat, fat stems.
