‘Margarita’ Carolina Jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens) will find its way into your heart with golden yellow, sweetly fragrant trumpet flowers that bloom from spring to early summer. Growing up to 12 feet, this tidy semi-evergreen vine is perfect near an entrance, or trailing along a fence or trellis where you and the hummingbirds can enjoy it. ‘Margarita’ is unique among Gelsemium as it is surprisingly cold hardy, allowing those in colder zones to experience its lovely flowers.

Description

‘Margarita’ Carolina Jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens) showers the spring garden with fragrant clear yellow trumpet flowers. Growing to 12' long, this vine will flower from spring to summer with pollinator-friendly, deer resistant color. Plant it in a full sun to light shade location in compost-enriched soil where it can be given medium moisture (it will tolerate short dry spells). Located near a patio or entry it will add a light fragrance along with its colorful blooms. Try one near a green shrub where it will weave its way through the branches turning a simple shrub into a colorful addition to the garden. Fences, walls, and containers are also nice locations for ‘Margarita.’ 8-12' tall x 1-5' wide.
