While most of the garden still sleeps, Crocus is greeting the longer days with jewel-like colors that will naturalize (multiply and spread) nicely through the early-spring garden. Our Spring Delight Crocus Collection of beautiful spring colors will bring your yard and garden to life and offers years of easy-care enjoyment. Blooming in early-spring, at a height of 3-6" tall, Crocus grows happily in sunny, well-drained soil. It will even come up in lawns, just delay mowing by 6 weeks after bloom to allow the corms (bulbs) to recharge. Plant in masses in the front of your garden or in any sunny spot where you can enjoy them.
Dutch Crocus Remembrance is a stellar violet-petaled beauty with bright orange centers. Large cupped, it’s a lovely color splash. Spring Beauty Snow Crocus is an unusual crocus with deep plum stripes cloaking soft lavender petals. Fuscotinctus Snow Crocus brightens up our collection with deep golden petaled flowers. Lastly, Dutch Crocus Joan of Arc adds large, pure white flowers with bright orange pistils. Plant crocus corms (bulbs) just three inches deep and 1-3 inches apart. Organic bulb food is always a plus. For a natural look, prepare an area and then just scatter the bulbs, planting them where they land. When happy they will multiply and spread, creating lovely drifts of early spring color. Important sources of early spring nectar and pollen, our pollinators will enjoy your flowers too. Deer and rabbit resistant, squirrels sometimes develop a taste for freshly planted corms. If they are a problem, just cover your planting area with chicken wire or netting for protection. As your crocus naturalize they will move closer to the top of the soil, and in colder areas they may become vulnerable to frost. Dig them up every 3-4 years to replant them and spread some into new areas. Total of 255 bulbs.
