Description

18-20" tall x 4" wide. Nightrider Tulip is a fun finale to tulip season. Its raspberry-purple petals are finished in green flames making it a flashy addition to a planting bed or border. Blooming in late spring, it's best planted in groups where its unusual coloration can shine - imagine it in a bed of pastel flowers where it will add a dramatic flair. A Viridiflora tulip, marked by green, it is happiest in full sun, but if your sunlight is very strong, a partial shade aspect will help preserve its color. It will also perennialize well, especially in warmer zones. Plant in compost-enriched, well-drained soil at 5-8" deep. If you wish to encourage perennialization, an application of organic fertilizer in spring and fall will help support the bulbs, and it's best to avoid trimming back foliage until it has completely yellowed. Great cut flowers too, with long-lasting flowers, this easy-care tulip is a pollinator favorite.
