Green blossoms are prized by gardeners who love to use unusual accents, and the chartreuse color of ‘Youth Dew’ Gladiolus are tops the list. With a strong vertical shape and an abundance of lemon-lime blossoms, tall ‘Youth Dew’ will contrast shades of violet, harmonize with whites and greens, and add a bright note of citrus to your garden. Heat tolerant, deer-resistant blooms attract pollinators and hummingbirds throughout the summer.

(40-44” tall x 10” wide) ‘Youth Dew’ Gladiolus sports tall, flowering stems in early summer that are packed with up to 12 large yellow flowers suffused with a light green tint – giving the overall effect of a full, frilly spike of green blossoms. (They have a similar appearance to Bells of Ireland, but slightly less finicky.) ‘Youth Dew’ Gladiolus makes a versatile cut flower for vases, and the funnel-shaped deer-resistant blossoms are very attractive to hummingbirds. Plant this larger gladiolus cultivar in well-drained soils 8 inches deep at a rate of 6-8 per square foot, and either provide protection from wind, or some type of staking for the blossoming spikes, which become heavy with blooms mid-summer and can flop with the weight. The yellow-green shade of ‘Youth Dew’ Gladiolus makes it a good contrast for violet-heavy gardens, but consider also using it in a green and white garden with the softening accents of variegated grasses. ‘Youth Dew’ is hardy to Zone 8. Gardeners in colder zones should dig the corms in autumn when foliage has died back and store in moistened sawdust in a frost-free location.
