Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘Emily McKenzie’ (Montbretia) delights the late summer garden with pinwheel flowers of rich apricot to burnt orange around a yellow throat. Also known as Montbretia or Coppertips, this plant is in the Iris family, with flowers from 1-3 inches. ‘Emily McKenzie’ Crocosmia thrives in full sun to part shade, and once established is an easy-care favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds. Plant in soil with good drainage in a sun-to-part-sun location. Blooming along with Rudbeckia, Echinacea, and Aster, it’s a unique and eye-catching addition to the garden. Plant bulbs (corms) about 2" apart in groups of at least 10 for best results. Deer and rabbit resistant, it’s also drought tolerant once established. (2-3' tall x 1-2' wide)
