Description

'Spring Carpet' is an early blooming perennial that makes a colorful carpet of flowers. The low-growing perennial thrives in hot, dry, sites and prefers gritty, sharply drained soil in the garden. It makes a nice groundcover along the edges of walks and paths. Native to Mediterranean Europe and North Africa, it’s also called Spanish Chamomile, since it has a similar appearance and habit. It will re-seed itself readily in favorable conditions and naturalize in gardens with poor soils. The plants are not bothered by browsing deer and rabbits. It makes a great companion plant for other early blooming perennials like blue-flowered groundcover Speedwells (Veronica), Wooly Creeping Thyme (Thymus), and Sea Thrift (Armeria). Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
