Yellow Cold Hardy Mesemb (Aloinopsis)

Yellow Cold Hardy Mesemb (Aloinopsis acuta Middelpos form ) is an exquisite cold hardy Mesemb that grows to form a tight mat of scalloped succulent foliage and blooms in mid-spring with dozens of bright yellow, white eyed flowers. Growing a stout carrot-like tap root, the plant should be grown in pots or in the rock garden where it can be planted between rocks to encourage optimum drainage. Discovered by High Country Gardens Chief Horticulturist David Salman outside of the tiny West Cape town of Middelpos, Republic of South Africa. (It was formerly sold as Aloinopsis aff. villettii before it was finally identified by Mesemb expert Steve Hammer.) Good for Firescaping
