About Me Avid Gardener
Comments about High Country Gardens August Afternoons Pre-Planned Garden:
I purchased this garden to plant in front of my lemonade porch last fall. Prior to that I had a large butterfly bush and lilac bush that was out of control and it just looked horrible. I grew up gardening, but was never a pro at choosing what looks good together and how to group. This made it soooo easy. My space is about 11x5 a raised bed. I prepared the soil with compost and planted and prayed. i do believe that two of the plants did not come back and I had one baptista that was well established so i left it. I also added bee's balm because I like it with echinecea. LET ME TELL YOU....those plants TOOK OFF LIKE WILDFIRE!!! The space gets full sun and we have had a very dry summer and the entire garden thrived and filled the entire space the first year! My mother was shocked and said it looked like at least a second year garden and had warned me when I ordered them. Do not be disappointed they are only 5" pots, and will take a while to grow. Much to my delight, she was wrong!!! I can't say how thrilled I am with this garden and am already purchasing more for this fall planting season. Never in my wildest imagination would I have guessed to have such good luck when ordering plants through the mail. I will keep looking for a partial shade/shade preplanned garden for a space in my backyard.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Too Soon To Tell
from Pagosa Springs, Co. 7400 feet elevatio
Product arrived just after Labor Day...was concerned that it may have been held by the carrier for an extended period of time, but all the plants looked good. Immediately began the planting process. Had previously prepared the soil. Plantings were on a 4 foot high slope that tapered down to one foot. Taller plants to the back. Most of the plants appeared to be very healthy. Although one only had soil in the top half of its container, thus the roots were very shallow. All looked healthy until the first snow fall. This Spring has seen a couple of light snowfalls, and the plants have only begun to green up. I am still concerned about two of the plants, whether they will actually begin to grown, at this juncture there is only a hint of greening up.Thus, it is too early to give a green thumb up. Perhaps in 2-3 weeks there will be more definitive results...product review would be better at end of May, not end of April

The plants grew so large in their first year. I was shocked! I always expect perennials to take a couple of years to take off, but this garden went crazy and thrived in the hot summer sun with very little water. The instructions for planting and after-care were fabulous (and WATERPROOF, which was a great help while I was planting). Note that I did add some white salvia to the mix, which is visible around the sundial in the photo.

About Me Getting Started
I bought this garden as a birthday present to myself and planted it in the spring of 2014. I thought it would take a couple years to grow, but it has grown like nothing I've ever seen. I am thrilled! After years of guesswork about what plants would look good together, which ones are appropriate for my bad soil conditions, low rainfall, intense summer sun, cold winters, and which ones would not be eaten by a neighborhood full of rabbits, this garden has thrived. (All the prior guesswork meant a lot of disappointments, dead plants and money down the drain). I will be buying more of your plants, and perhaps pre-planned gardens, for other areas of my yard.

Beautiful preplanned garden
from Denver CO
I purchased this garden for a rectangular planter between a sidewalk and fence. The variety of plants was perfect for this area and by the second season, this garden had filled in very nicely. As the name implies, most of the flowers bloom in summer, so I added in a few spring flowering plants so that we would have flowers all season. This garden is very low maintenance!
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
