Lamium maculatum ‘Orchid Frost’ (Dead Nettle) is showy, repeat blooming groundcover for shady areas with large orchid-pink flowers and frosty variegated foliage.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
4-6" tall x 15-18" wide. Lamium maculatum ‘Orchid Frost’ (Dead Nettle) is showy, repeat blooming groundcover for shady areas. Large orchid-pink flowers cover the frosty variegated foliage in early summer and reappear in fall. The silver and green foliage brings light to shaded parts of the garden and is excellent in the foreground of other taller, shade-loving perennials. Good for Firescaping (Cutting propagated).

Lamium is a vigorous spreading groundcover, native to the Old World.
Preferred growing conditions
Dead-nettle thrives in a wide range of soils including clay. Plant them in partial to full shade.
Mulch is not needed. Being a vigorous growing groundcover, they are self-mulching.
Water regularly the first growing season to establish the plants. In arid western climates regular irrigation is needed in hot weather. In moister climates, additional watering is not needed.
Deadhead the plants after blooming to keep the plants looking tidy. But they generally will not come back into bloom.
Fertilize lightly in the fall with a half and half blend of Yum Yum Mix and good quality compost.
