A lovely low-growing Oregano with burgundy tinged foliage, ‘Bristol Cross’ (Origanum) will spread with time, making a fragrant ground cover for dry, sunny areas. This fascinating lavender and green calyces on dark wiry stems bloom in summer and fall – with tubular, pollinator-friendly flowers. Its herbal scent makes oregano deer resistant. An excellent choice for the herb gardener as well as the collector! (Origanum)

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
6-8” tall x 12-18” wide. Origanum ‘Bristol Cross’ provides for the cook, the collector, the crafter, and the florist in you! In summer, dark wiry stems are tipped with long green bracts that carry several purple tubular flowers. As the season progresses, this creates a cascading effect that’s perfect for garden walls or large containers. The stems dry well and work beautifully in flower arrangements or kitchen projects. Plant ‘Bristol Cross’ in dry to average soils. It’s much better to water this Mediterranean descendant deeply and allow it to slowly dry out before watering again. If the plant is looking untidy in late spring, cut back to encourage new growth and a stronger habit. If growing in containers, ensure that the container is well-draining, and pair with other plants or herbs that prefer slightly drier conditions.
