(10-12" tall x 12-24" wide) 'Heavenly Habit' Northern Jacob’s Ladder (Polemonium boreale) flowers with delicate violet-blue, sweetly scented flowers on upright stems with lacy fern-like foliage. Bees and butterflies love the flowers that cover the plant from early-to-late summer, and you will enjoy this unique, low-maintenance perennial in both sun and part shade. At 10-12 inches tall it’s nice in borders, containers, rock gardens, and woodland settings. It grows best in compost-enriched, well-drained soil that is moist. In sunny areas, protect Northern Jacob’s Ladder from extremely hot afternoon sun, it prefers mild temperatures. A great companion for hosta, columbine, and Oriental poppies. It’s compact form and height make it perfect for a gravelly slope, rock garden, or border. Mix with Vision® Violet Cranesbill for an exuberant color show. Deer resistant this hardy perennial is also generally pest-free. Cut back by half in midsummer to refresh if desired. Hardy in zones 3-7, the plant may be easily divided in spring for even more flowers.
