Tips for growing Agastache
Agastache are sun loving plants with aromatic foliage and flowers. They bloom from mid-summer into early fall and are resistant to rabbits and deer.
Agastache need lean, well-drained soils, prefer gravel mulches, and appreciate deep but infrequent watering after their second growing season
To improve winter-hardiness, and encourage re-seeding, leave the stems intact over the winter. In mid-spring, remove old stems just above the new foliage, about 4 or 5 inches above ground level.
If your conditions don't lend themselves to growing Agastache in your garden, they do well planted in containers.

I had seen this variety of agastache in a book by Oudolf & Kingsbury "Planting - A New Perspective" and was charmed by it but was tentative about trying because all the gardens in the book were back east and in Europe but since it was an agastache I figured why not give it a chance. OMG! When it bloomed it far exceeded my expectations. Absolutely a beautiful and hardy plant in North Central Arizona.

True, the bees absolutely LOVE this plant; however, both the foliage and blooms become faded and unsightly as the season progresses. I had 3 of them and have replaced all 3 with Blue Blazes and am glad I did. Blue Blazes blooms longer, retains better color longer into the fall, and flops-sprawls less.

Comments about High Country Gardens Agastache Blue Fortune:
This is a hardy plant! Planted last spring, they took off and never looked back. The amount of flowers was astounding and long-lasting. Bees adore this plant! Growing between zones 5b-6a is a balancing act, here. These plants blasted through feet of snow and a long, brutal winter. These plants withstand areas in which any other "hardy" perennial has croaked. They love heat, drought and sneer at -20° winter blasts. All they need is good drainage and little to no fertilizer. Too much makes them flop over. I'm having to divide these already, their second year. I didn't expect them to get so darn big. So, knowing what I know now, these will be placed on 2' centers from now on.

This was one of the few plants I used last year that the deer and rabbits left alone. Plant was over 12" tall by the end of the season. Can't wait to see how much bigger it gets this year!
very succesful in my bee garden
from Pueblo, CO
This plant has been so successful and grew much larger than anticipated. I will have to move it to give it more room and stop it from crowding my other plants. I love the scent, bees and butterflies flock to it
Only one I've found that likes the south
from Beaufort, SC
I grew up in California and long for some of the plants from the arid southwest. I now live in the coastal southeast. It's wet and humid here in the summer. Most agastaches HATE it here and won't survive, except Blue Fortune. It thrives and is lovely.

Just like the catalog says
By No, thank you
from Minneapolis, MN
Part of an Agastache "experiment" to see what would do well in my Zone 4 garden, this blue variety grew rapidly, and just like the catalog says, it was quite popular with pollinators. In late January, it's far too early to tell if it will survive the winter and re-emerge in the spring. I was unimpressed with the color – too pale to suit my tastes - but the bees didn't care about that, and flocked to the plant all summer long.

About Me Getting Started
I planted it in midAugust, so perhaps it didn't have time to establish enough roots before the frost.
Merchant response: Good Day Barbara the flower lover,We are so sorry to hear that the Agastache did not make it through the winter! In zones 5 or below, Agastache is not recommended to be planted in the fall as it requires more time to develop its crown before the frost. Of course, we would never want you to pay for something you never got a chance to enjoy! It is because of this, we fully guarantee all of our products up to a year from the day your order has shipped. We have reached out to you via email to discuss your options so you can get exactly what you paid for!
