2. Prepare your soil by clearing the area of all existing growth.
3. Mix the Wildflower seeds with sand for better visibility.
4. After spreading the seed, we recommend compressing the seed into the soil.
5. After planting, give the area a good water.

New Mexico Privet is an attractive multi-stemmed shrub or small tree with ornamental white bark and brilliant yellow fall foliage. ‘Happy Boy’ is a male plant needed for pollination. If no fruit is desired, plant only ‘Happy Boy’. One male pollinates numerous female plants. Plant at least one male and female plant planted no more than 100 ft apart if you wish to get berries.

Comments about High Country Gardens Forestiera neomexicana Happy Boy:
Survived one winter in VT and did well this past summer. I'm looking forward to see just how much it takes off next summer.Have it planted near a bunch of Berry Girls which are also doing well. Seems like the Happy boy may be a slightly faster grower, not a huge difference but seems like a bit.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

So far it is growing
About Me Avid Gardener
It is a cute little thing in my front xeric yard. Emphasis on little, it is growing but is only about 10" into the 2nd year. Granted we had a late snow and 3 hailstorms followed by almost no rain, so I am giving it credit for survival.I will have to prune some of the extra trunks back as I want a tree rather than a hedge

A very pretty shrub
from Smith Valley, NV
A very attractive, pretty tough plant. I have one male plant and two females and will be using them as a screen and bird food/habitat when they are bigger. The nice yellow fall leaf color will be nice, too. It tolerates drought pretty well and wind very well.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
