Kannah Creek Buckwheat hails from western Colorado. With a showy display of yellow flowers in late spring, the flowers age to shades of orange and rust by late summer, providing months of low care color. A 2007 Plant Select winner. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).
Growing Eriogonum (Buckwheat)
Eriogonum (Buckwheat) is a large genus of mostly Western North American wildflowers that are often shrub-like with woody stems. They are very important plants for habitat creation in our gardens.

Comments about High Country Gardens Eriogonum umbellatum v. aureum Kannah Creek:
Bought this plant to put between 2 cactus that I planted 2 years ago. Grew well this summer with a little TLC water every now and then. The foilage was attractive in the fall. Grew to a plant about 12 inches across. Curious to see how much growth the second year will bring.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought one of these about five years ago simply because it fulfilled my requirements for an area in the garden - native, cold hardy, low water, low height, long interest. From the pictures, I never expected to love it, but it is hands down one of our favorite plants, and one I always recommend to friends for our area. The foliage makes a kind of undulating mat of green that is tinged with gorgeous burgundy by the cold and provides essential color and interest in the winter. In the warm months, the buckwheat produces a long-lasting blanket of bright yellow flowers that float above the foliage on narrow stems. People never fail to comment on this plant in our garden and it has brought us much joy.
