Why Plant Aubrieta?

Aubrieta, commonly known as Rock Cress, is an evergreen groundcover perennial. Gray-green foliage forms soft mats, and the plants are covered with small violet, pink, or white flowers in spring. Native to the Mediterranean region, Aubrieta thrives best when planted in well-draining, alkaline soil in full sun. It can tolerate partial shade, though its flowering will be reduced. Once established, it’s a waterwise perennial that is an excellent addition to rock or alpine gardens, growing along a gravel path, or planted in containers, where its soft billowing form and colorful flowers will add early season color to the landscape.
