Leymus salinus 'Salane' (Basin Junior Wildrye) is a native perennial grass that forms a dense clump of narrow, slivery-green foliage. Subtle pale-yellow seeds emerge above the foliage on tall, thin spikes and mature to a sandy hue. This drought-tolerant Western native grass and thrives in hot, dry, rocky sites and high elevations.

Leymus salinus 'Salane' (Basin Junior Wildrye) also called Salina Pass Wild Rye and Salinas Lyme Grass, is native to the Western United States and named for the location where its original specimen was collected, in Salina Pass, Utah. The grass has a broad native range that includes AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, UT, and WY, and grows in elevations between 4,000 and 10,000 feet. Basin Junior Wildrye forms dense clumps of thin foliage., and sometimes has rhizomes. This grass is a good choice for stabilizing soil and preventing erosion, as well as restoring habitat for wildlife.
