Silver Curry Bush is a small growing evergreen plant from Western China that has clusters of yellow yarrow-like flowers and bright white foliage. It thrives in dry, hot conditions and is very cold tolerant. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
18-24" tall x 30-36" wide. A fabulous, recent introduction to American horticulture, Silver Curry bush hails from the distant and very cold Tian Shan Mountains on the border between Kazakhstan and western China. The fine textured, evergreen foliage is pure white in bright sun; it’s the plant’s most attractive feature. When brushed, the leaves give off the pleasant scent of curry. The small yellow yarrow-like flowers appear in mid-summer but aren’t very showy. This is a plant that thrives in extreme conditions thriving in hot, dry sites with cold winters. Yet it does extremely well in the mild climate of the Pacific Northwest. A very versatile small shrub! Cut back by a foot every 3 to 4 years to re-invigorate it and give it a compact shape. Low fertility, well-drained soil. Plant with Lavender and Russian sage.

Planting Guides
Helichrysum tianshanicum (Silver Curry Bush) is a large genus of plants native to southern Africa, Asia and Australia. Helichrysum tianshanicum has strong curry-scented foliage that is not browsed by deer or rabbits.
Preferred growing conditions:
Grow in most any soil type, including dry clay.
It prefers a full sun exposure.
Water transplants regularly for the first growing season and provide drier conditions once established.
Deadheading will prolong blooming.
Fertilize lightly in the fall with Yum Yum Mix.
Special Comments:
Helichrysum tianshanicum is a very tough, evergreen shrub that benefits from a light shearing when flowering is finished.
Cut back any winter-damaged tips in mid-spring.
Do not divide the plant; leave it undisturbed once established.
Great companion plant for Russian Sage (Perovskia).
