Our Rainforest Retreat Bulb Collection offers elegant blooms and dramatic foliage for a lush oasis in your home or outdoor space. Broad, striking Elephant Ears layer nicely over orange and burgundy Asiatic lilies. Calla Lily adds speckled leaves and graceful white flowers. Plant in gardens or containers indoors or out – wherever you want to enjoy a relaxing escape. Collection of 5 bulbs.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
(12-60" tall) Our Rainforest Retreat Bulb Collection will help you create a restful retreat in any setting, from urban container gardens to shady garden nooks. A backdrop of enormous Elephant Ear foliage sets the stage for this textural planting. Five different varieties of Caladium provide dazzling color and a lovely ground layer reaching 12-24 inches tall. Ivory Art Calla Lily punctuates the heart-shaped foliage with upright leaves that are equally impressive. For a quick and easy flower arrangement, harvest Calla blooms along with a handful of Caladium leaves. These fabulous foliage plants perform best with morning sun and afternoon shade. Plant in a rich, moist soil. Elephant Ear and Calla are winter hardy in zones 8-10, and Caladiums are hardy to zone 9. Most gardeners in cooler zones dig these bulbs for winter storage or bring indoors in containers over the winter months.
Collection of 5 bulbs covers 5-7 square feet when planted together:
'Forever Susan' Asiatic Lily - Bag of 3 bulbs
Elephant Ears - 1 bulb
Ivory Art Calla Lily - 1 bulb

Planting Guides
Summer Blooming Bulbs, including popular varieties such as gladiolus and dahlias, are planted in the spring and bloom in the summer. Most of these bulbs are tropical and require warm weather to be planted. There must not be any danger of frost and your ground temperature must have reached 55 degrees Fahrenheit before planting. Many
of our summer blooming bulbs can be planted as perennials in zones 9-10 (zone 8 if mulched), but should be treated as annuals in cooler climates. You can lift them and store them in the fall, or bring patio pots inside before frost. See page 15 of our Planting Guide for a bulb depth planting illustration.
