USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

(27-38" tall x 12 x 24" wide) What better way to enjoy a long season of Bearded Iris blossoms than with our Reblooming Bearded Iris Collection? Our collection features 4 fragrant varieties. Colors range from snow white to shades of blues, golden yellow, violet, and red, with patterns and textures that stimulate the senses. Best of all, these Iris will rebloom in early fall, bringing on another welcome color show before the end of the season. With an extended bloom time of over four weeks, these flowers add easy-care color to any space. Consider converting some lawn to a Bearded Iris bed for a low-maintenance, drought tolerant, pollinator friendly garden bed! No mowing required - just a seasonal trim. Cut or snap off spent blooms and once a flower stalk is finished, cut them back at the base and enjoy the vertical green foliage. Keep moist as the plant establishes, thereafter its a drought-tolerant, hardy perennial that will naturalize over the years with ever increasing blossoms.
