Red Velvet is one of the best with it deep rose-red, flat-topped flower heads that hold their color. Deep green, fine textured foliage, this yarrow is sure to attract butterflies wherever it's planted. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).
Tips On Growing Achillea (Yarrow)
Achillea (Yarrow) are long-blooming, Old World perennials that are exceptionally easy-to-grow and provide ample nectar for butterflies. They are resistant to browsing rabbits and deer. Most are tall, upright growers with the exception of evergreen Achillea ageratifolia (Greek yarrow) and Achillea millifolium
‘Sonoma Coast,' which are groundcovers.

Comments about High Country Gardens Achillea millefolium Red Velvet:
Planted this in the spring of 2017. Grow well enough to bloom in its first year in a hot dry spot near a south facing fence.

Perfect for my garden!

These yarrow plants thrive in our yard, that is full of deer, rabbits and sunshine but low on water. Their color is stunning and add a bright red spot to my yellow and pink dominated garden.

This plant is fast-growing with very few demands. We're living in a very arid area and a lot of plants need too much care and don't do so well here. We just established a garden for a new home and I love the way it spread and bloomed and immediately created a focus point.

Great plant for clay soil & sunny area
from Kansas City
Sorry, because this is my second review. I can't figure out a way to edit my first review. In my first review I gave this plant a poor rating because I thought the blooms were white. I spoke too soon because the buds had not fully opened and the buds are white until they open up.Nice plant, beautiful foliage and color. The plant has red blooms just as advertised. (:
Hardy and Easy to Grow
from Parker, CO
I planted two of these last fall. They made it through a rather rough winter with no issues. They are both about 8" tall and look full and healthy. I can't wait for them to bloom.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
