Description:

A rare prairie wildflower native to the plains of the central US, Ruellia is a very showy flowering perennial that thrives in well-drained soils and dry conditions. Blooming in mid-summer, it has eye-catching trumpet-shaped flowers with silky, dark lavender petals. Plains petunia is a showy companion for Orange Butterfly Weed, Yellow Ratibida and other prairie native plants. Zones 4-8
