To keep soils healthy and alive, a soil maintenance and fertilization program using organic and natural ingredients will insure long term success above and below ground. Using organic and natural fertilizers and amendments, you “feed the soil that feeds your plants.”

Soil Mender products are urea-free and are only made from premium natural and organic ingredients. The following Soil Mender products provide a healthy foundation for a variety of soil conditions and needs:

There is nothing better for your garden soil than Soil Mender® Compost. Put a handful into each planting hole along with some Yum Yum Mix and Planters II to give humus loving plants like hardy garden perennials, groundcovers, shrubs and roses their best possible start. It is highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.

Soil Mender Expanded Shale is a great way to loosen and aerate poor clay soils and improve moisture retention in sandy soils. Thousands of tiny pores in expanded shale quickly absorb moisture and slowly release it to the plant roots that attach themselves to the individual shale pieces.

Soil Mender Rock Phosphate is an all natural source of phosphorus which is responsible for root development and fruit and flower production in plants. Rock Phosphate slowly feeds plant roots as the plants need it.

University research has shown wormcastings are exceptional in their ability to naturally revive stressed plants and protect plants from soil borne diseases without the use of toxic chemical fungicides! Wormcastings are also useful in the garden as a mild natural fertilizer. These castings are of the highest quality collected from worms fed high quality manures, peanut hulls, oak leaves, humate and other ingredients; no garbage, paper or other waste products.

Soil Mender Blend Plus consists of a premium mix of composted cotton burrs properly blended with a high quality, well aged, composted cattle manure, plus alfalfa meal and humate. Alfalfa meal is a very high quality soil amendment containing Triacantanol. Humates aid in the physical modification of soil structure, improving water infiltration and plant quality.

Considered the “queen of flowers,” roses are a bit finicky and require some extra pampering. Soil Mender Rose Food produces healthier plants, larger blooms, and builds stronger roots. Made from organic and natural ingredients, it includes alfalfa meal, soft rock phosphate with colloidal clay, bone meal, cottonseed meal, wormcastings, soybean meal, feathermeal, sulfate of potash, humate, rabbit manure, greensand, kelp and Epsom salts. A 5 lb. bag will treat about 30 large roses.

Keep your native meadow and native turf grass healthy and vigorous by improving the soil with Soil Mender Turf Mate. Traditional lawn fertilizers go heavy on the nitrogen (and herbicides) that leave the soil compacted and depleted of humus, earthworms and beneficial soil microbes. Instead, build the soil under the grass with this superior blend of compost, alfalfa meal and humate, and watch your native grass thrive with less care and irrigation. A 1 cubic-foot bag covers 1,000 square feet.
