In response to customer requests that we got last year, we’ve made some changes. Instead of grouping all the perennials together, this year we’ve separated them. For customers looking for the more water-wise plants, we’ve made it easier to find them.

If you stand in front of the Garden Center and face the covered perennial area, you’ll notice two signs. One says Perennials and the other says Xeric. To the left are the Hardy Perennials, to the right are the Xeric Perennials.

“Hardy Garden Perennials” are the more traditional plant varieties that like a composted, enriched soil as well as organic mulches. They also like a more regular watering schedule.

Plants in this section include:

  • Delphinium
  • Shasta Daisy
  • Day Lily
  • Dianthus

“Xeric Perennials” are the more native species as well as adapted plants. These like a leaner (less fertile) soil and can grow on less water once established.

Plants in this section include:

  • Penstemon
  • Russian Sage
  • Achillea
  • Salvia

All the plants in both sections are arranged in alphabetical order by their botanical name. Also, our labels are the best you’ll find. For each plant there is a color picture and pertinent information on how to grow them in your garden such as:

  • sun/shade preferences
  • water requirements
  • bloom time
  • soil requirements
  • zones
  • deer/rabbit resistant
  • height and width
  • characteristics (trailing, fragrant, heat loving)

Have a great time roaming the aisles. We have some luscious choices!
