A clustering Agave species native to the Chihuahuan Desert, this species is very common in the foothills and mountains of southern NM and West TX. Shin-daggers grows to a height of 1 foot with stout, narrow, non-toothed leaves tipped with sharp spines. Over time, this Agave suckers to form wide, low-growing, groundcover-like thickets with numerous, closely-spaced plants. Quite cold-hardy, these plants were grown from seed collected from the Glass Mountains, the coldest mountain range in southwest Texas. 6 year old plants. Zones 6-10. *AGAVE:* A large genus of impressive succulents native to the US and Mexico. Tequila, the national drink of Mexico is distilled from the hearts of a non cold hardy Agave species.
