This stunning little Titannopsis species. Yellow flowered Aloinopsis aff. villette was crossed with pink flowered Aloinopsis spathulata. 'Karoo Red Mix's flowers are brilliantly colored and truly spectacular! Blooming in early spring, the flowers will vary in color a little bit from plant to plant; you can expect salmon-orange to reddish-orange flowers (most with a distinct lavender eye). The blooms are held just above a tight evergreen mat of wavey, succulent blue-green foliage. 'Karoo Red Mix' has a deep growing tap root. Rock gardens should plant it into a lean, fast-draining soil, preferably situated in a rock crevice, and mulch with crushed angular gravel (see mulch in photo). For non-rock gardeners, it also is easily grown in a ceramic pot with good depth to allow its deep roots to develop. See below for special planting information. Be sure to plant it bare root.
