The original plant (a very rare genetic dwarf form of Ponderosa) was discovered growing northwest of Fort Collins, CO in the early 1950's by Mary Ann Heacock and a group of bonsai enthusiasts. They transplanted it to her Denver garden. There it stayed until the late 1990's until it was transplanted again to a garden in west Denver. Its needles are about half the length of normal Ponderosa pines. Grows 2-4" per year. Zones 3-8. 3.5" x 4.25" deep pot.
