With richly colored flowers, 'Dark Ponticum' is a more upright, compact selection, that also has strikingly dark green foliage and a wonderful minty-green scent to the leaves. The color of the bloom is pure saturated violet-purple. Use this where some of the larger, wider spreading varieties like 'Violet Queen' or M. fistulosa might be too large.
