10" x 10"-12", (seed propagated). Pecos Co., TX. A beautiful species native to west TX and northern MX. Plants from this area are quite cold hardy. The small stem (for a Ferocactus) grows 10" wide by 10 to 12" tall. The long hooked spines are very pink and contrast beautifully with the large yellow flowers. Nice planted with Agaves. Zones 7-10 (possibly 6 when well established). *Collection # GL150* *FEROCACTUS:* A group of true desert dwellers, this genus of large barrel cacti are renowned for their spectacular spines. Wide ranging from west TX, into NM, AZ, CA and northern MX. Very long lived, but will take a number of years to reach mature size. In colder areas, Ferocacti are easily grown in pots outside in the summer and given winter protection in a coldframe or sunroom.
