Discovered by cactusmeister Steven Brack in the White Sands region of south-central NM, this is without a doubt the fastest, largest and most spectacular of any Claret Cup. The robust, stoutly spined stems are topped with glowing scarlet flowers in late spring and can grow to a height of 3 feet under favorable conditions! Pictured is a large, 15"-tall blooming mound I grew from seed in only 7 years. Zones 5-9.
