5" x 12-15" wide, (seed propagated). This collection of Echinocereus coccineus comes from the high slopes of the Sandia (Watermelon) Mountains east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here, it is found growing on rocky outcroppings, often in the partial-shade of Ponderosa pine trees. Mature clumps bloom in late spring with hummingbird-attracting scarlet flowers. Very cold hardy. Zones 4-9.
