Dan Hinkley's US introduction 'Kingston Blue' (originally discovered by Miss Raphael of Kingston Bagpuize, UK) crossed with Agapanthus 'Cold Hardy White' in my garden about five years ago. From among the seedlings grown from this seed, I selected the most vigorous, best blooming, deep blue flowering plants to create the 'Kingston Blue Strain.' Cold hardy and deciduous, this compact grower blooms in mid-summer. Plant in groups of 3 or more to maximize the effect of the plant's sculptural flowering stems. Mulch heavily in cold winter climates to get the plants well established. Zones 5b?6-9
