Choosing Holiday Gifts: Some of My Favorites
from the High Country Gardens Catalog
By Kerry Kirkpatrick
Gift giving during the holidays is an expression of love, friendship, and gratitude. For many it's the giving that brings joy (but I must say that it's great to be on the receiving end!) Sometimes we already have something to give in mind, but other times it helps to have some fresh gift ideas.
Flowering Gift Baskets
Your special relatives and friends will appreciate receiving a
blooming flower basket now through New Years. As they watch the blooming bulbs sprout and bloom, they'll think of you. And when houseguests remark on the beautiful
Bloem Box,
Paperwhites or
Amaryllis, they will be proud to announce that it was you who sent them.
Ornaments
It's a great custom to give an
ornament to your loved ones. Ornaments brought to the tree or hearth each year will accumulate as memorable family heirlooms! Our
High Country Garden ornaments are especially reminiscent of nature and the garden –
leaves,
hummingbirds,
raindrops,
flowers,
birdseed eggs, and
wreaths.
The Gift of the Garden
Of course to us at High Country Gardens, the garden itself is a wondrous gift. The garden is a miracle of birth and rebirth, and the gift of the garden is a gift of lasting joy. "From Russia with Love" seems so appropriate this holiday season and I love
David Salman's story about creating this garden. How about giving "Dulcinea's Heart" to your special Don Quixote? I like the exotic colors (and names) of these flowering plants:
Agastache x Acapulco,
Mediterranean Gladiolus, and
Amethyst Falls. These are just a few of the
78 new items in our 2007 catalog. These
new 2007 Plants and
gardens make very astute gifts.

How to Give a Garden this Holiday Season
Purchase a
Gift Card or Gift Certificate which is sent free of charge to your recipient (See Details Below) or order your favorite
plants,
pre-planned gardens, and
samplers. We'll send a card to your recipient announcing your gift and when it will be shipped for spring planting.
Gift Certificate Sale!
No wonder our annual holiday Gift Certificate Sale* is so popular! The great thing about a
gift certificate is that your recipients can choose exactly what they want--and for you, it's a no-guesser.
*Sale on $50, $75, $100, $150 Gift Certificates!

Your Gift Certificate is sent free of charge to a recipient other than yourself in an attractive gift box with our full color High Country Gardens catalog enclosed. Offer expires Dec. 17, 2006, and cannot be combined with other offers. Standard delivery applies for free delivery, and express shipping is available at check-out. |
Dig-in-the-Garden Gifts
We are offering some really great
"dig-in-the-garden" gifts this season. Our High Country Gardens
digging tools have a lifetime warranty and our
Garden Tool Bag is a handsome gift that comes with a
steel and oak trowel and cultivator! We are fascinated with the
Leatherman Tool for it's practical versatility. (Look at all the things it can do and it comes with a clip-on belt case). View all of our
"dig-in-the-garden" gifts!
Garden Accessories
How about giving gifts that embellish the garden? The garden can also be a place to
rest, to listen to the song of
wind chimes, to offer food and water to
birds and hummingbirds, to
collect rainfall, to hear
water falling, to
meditate, and to enjoy whimsical
garden sculptures. We're even offering this practical item for our
thirsty four-legged friends!
When Pigs Fly
Of all the High Country Gardens Gifts this holiday season, this is my pet favorite. "When Pigs Fly" is an idiom apparently derived from a centuries-old Scottish proverb which means "wishful thinking, it can never happen." Just in case, I'm going to keep my adorable
flying pig inside!
Happy Holidays!
All of us at High Country Gardens extend our warmest wishes to you this holiday season. Thank you for being one of our valued gardening customers, and
stop by for a visit sometime!
