An ancient watering technique that is fun to use and delivers water right to the root zone! The use of buried earthen jars for watering plants is an ancient native American technique with a long history of use in the Southwest. The porous, hand-thrown unglazed pot is buried neck deep in the soil near your plants. Simply fill the pot with water and it gently seeps into the soil to be absorbed by the roots of surrounding perennials or vegetables (not for use around woody plants such as shrubs and trees as those roots are likely to break the pots). This method is highly water-efficient and works best in non-sandy soils. Each olla lasts for years.
