Description:
What better way to plant a yard in the West? This garden will maintain a sense of place especially appropriate in communities built out in rural or semi-rural areas. Or maybe you just want to grow a prairie in the middle of the city. The Western Prairie Garden uses a mix of native prairie grasses and wildflowers to bring the quiet four-season magnificence of the western prairie up-close for you to cherish and enjoy. Once established, the garden will give your landscape years of low-maintenance, low-water, color and texture that attracts hummingbirds, beneficial insects, song birds and ground birds. Thanks to Dan Johnson’s short grass prairie Cottonwood Garden at Denver Botanic Gardens for the inspiration to create this prairie planting.
Included in the garden are 2 grass-plug trays and 34 potted plants.

- (3) plants each of Oenothera macrocarpa, Callirhoe involucrata & Sporobolus airoides
- (6) plants each of Asclepias tuberosa (clay form), Dalea purpurea, Artemisia frigida and Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Blaze’.
